Cougars Forward Troy Bourke Gets U18 Summer Selection Camp Invite

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce 17-year old forward Troy Bourke has invited to participate in the 2011 Team Canada Under 18 Development Camp. The camp will be held in Calgary, Alberta, July 29 - August 2.

Bourke had an impressive rookie season for the Prince George Cougars in the 2010-11 season. The 5'10", 170-pound product of Onoway, Alberta, posted 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points in 68 games, the second highest point production from a 16-year old in Prince George Cougars history. Bourke led the Cougars in plus/minus rating during the regular season, posting a plus-15. Bourke finished ninth in WHL rookie scoring, second among all WHL 16-year olds. Bourke, the Cougars second round pick (26thoverall) in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, was awarded with the 2010-11 Cougars Scholastic Player of the Year award.

In international play, Bourke helped Team Pacific to a bronze medal at the 2011 World Under-17 Challenge in Winnipeg and Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. Bourke had three goals and five assists for eight points in six games.

"The Cougars are very pleased for Troy to get this invite. He has worked very hard for this type of recognition," said Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson. "We wish Troy all the best at the camp and we feel he'll be great competitor for Canada if he's selected for the Under -18 team."

Bourke will travel to Calgary on Friday, July 29, and participate in three practices and three games during the development camp. From the camp, the top 22 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2011 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament in Piestany, Slovakia and Breclav, Czech Republic. Team Canada will travel to Europe on August 3 and return August 14. ____________
