FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The Kane County Cougars (30-29) were unable to continue their winning streak as they dropped the series opener to the Fort Wayne Tin Caps (25-33) Wednesday evening by a score of 4-2 at Parkview Field.

Stryker Trahan continued his hot bat giving the Cougars the first lead of the day with his third home run in his last four at-bats. After Marty Herum led off the second inning with a walk, Trahan belted a two-run shot for his 11th blast of the year and a 2-0 Cougars' advantage.

Brad Keller (2-7) tossed six strong innings, but gave up a big home run in the fourth inning. Fort Wayne's Chase Jensen returned the favor of the home run with a go-ahead three-run shot. Jensen's round tripper was the first homer allowed by Keller in almost two months.

The Tin Caps grabbed an insurance run the next inning with Nick Torres' RBI sacrifice fly.

Dinelson Lamet (2-3) picked up the win allowing only Trahan's home run through five frames. Colby Blueberg (5) picked up a four-out save.

The Cougars received two perfect innings of relief work from Jency Solis and Tom Jameson.

The Cougars and Tin Caps continue the series on Thursday. Right-hander Markus Solbach (5-2, 2.60) will take the mound against Tin Cap starter Michael Kelly (2-0, 3.38). First pitch from Parkview Field is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Coverage on AM 1280 WBIG and kccougars.com starts at 5:50 p.m.
