October 2, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince George Cougars News Release
PRINCE GEORGE BC - Chase Wheatcroft scored in the third period, but it was too little too late, and all the offense the Prince George Cougars could muster, falling 5-1 to the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday night at CN Centre.
The Rockets were able to score three in the opening period, getting markers from Turner McMillen, Marcus Pacheco and Adam Kydd. The three Rocket goals came under 10 minutes a part and put the visitors ahead after the opening 20.
In the second, the Cougars were able to get several looks, including a Riley Heidt penalty-shot and a 5 on 3 power-play, but PG was unable to convert on either attempt. The Rockets then countered with a power-play goal courtesy of Adam Kydd to make it 4-0.
The Cougars were able to get one back courtesy of a terrific goal from Chase Wheatcroft in tight to make it 4-1. Just over two minutes later, the Rockets countered on a power-play from Gabriel Szturc at the right circle to re-gain the four-goal lead. That was all the scoring, as the Rockets earn the weekend, beating PG 5-1.
