Prince George Cougars News Release

Kennewick, WA - The Prince George Cougars got goals from Chase Wheatcroft and Hudson Thornton; however, it was not enough as the Cougars dropped Game 3 against the Tri-City Americans 4-2. The Americans now lead the best-of-seven series 2 games to 1.

The Americans jumped out to a two-goal lead in the opening period. Tri-City got goals from Marc Lajoie 8 minutes in, and then another from Tyson Greenway at 12:01. The Americans out-shot the Cougars 12-7 in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second, the Cougars were able to cut into the lead early. Chase Wheatcroft got the puck off an American turnover and outwaited Tomas Suchanek and scored to make it 2-1 at 3:59. The Cougars had the greater of the chances in the second, outshooting the Americans 11-8. Ty Young had to come in to relieve Tyler Brennan as he was forced to leave with an apparent injury.

In the third, Hudson Thornton tied the game under a minute and a half in, rifling one bar-down on Tomas Suchanek to make it 2-2. It did not last long, however, as the Americans took back the lead on the power-play. Parker Bell hammered a one-timer from the right circle by Young at 5:31 to make it 3-2 Tri-City. The Cougars supplied pressure throughout the third but could not find the equalizer as the Americans buried an empty-netter from Jalen Luypen to seal a 4-2 win for Tri-City.
