
Cougars Conclude Weekend with 3-1 Triumph over Chiefs

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars finished their season-opening weekend in the win column, besting the Spokane Chiefs 3-1, Saturday at the CN Centre. This victory marks the Cougars first of the 2024-2025 season.
Jett Lajoie, Carlin Dezainde, and Matteo Danis scored the Cougar goals, while Josh Ravensbergen secured his first win of the season, making 23 saves on 24 Spokane shots.

1-0 Chiefs at 5:40 - Mathis Preston (1) assisted by Hayden Paupanekis and Chase Harrington // The Chiefs started the scoring for the second consecutive night, and rookie forward Mathis Preston walked his way in to the left circle and wired a shot past the blocker of Josh Ravensbergen to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
1-1 Cougars at 14:51 - Jett Lajoie (2) (PP) assisted by Carlin Dezainde and Carson Carels // The Cougars were able to find the equalizer and solve rookie goaltender Carter Esler who was making his WHL debut. Jett Lajoie was able to jam a puck home in the blue paint on the power-play to knot the game at one.
3rd PERIOD:
2-1 Cougars at 6:39 - Carlin Dezainde (1) assisted by Jett Lajoie // Carlin Dezainde received a feed from Jett Lajoie and the Calgary product snuck a shot underneath the goaltender Esler from the right circle to give Prince George their first lead of the evening.
3-1 Cougars at 16:39 - Matteo Danis (2) (PP) assisted by Ephram McNutt and Carson Carels // The Cats continued to generate great looks toward the goal on the man advantage and this time it was Matteo Danis to find the back of the net. Danis found the puck on a rebound from Ephram McNutt, and he was able to show tremendous patience and wrist the puck by Esler to give the Cats a 3-1 lead.
