GENEVA, Ill. - Four Kane County Cougars pitchers combined on a two-hitter Sunday afternoon, but the Cougars lost the game. They fell, 1-0, against the Clinton LumberKings in the finale of a three-game set at Elfstrom Stadium. The Cougars lost two of three in the series, their sixth straight losing series. The Cougars now are off until Friday night for the Midwest League all-star break.

Starter Jason Adam (2-3) suffered his third straight loss. He gave up a leadoff homer to Julio Morban in the top of the fourth inning, and that became the only run of the game. Adam pitched five innings, gave up two hits, walked two and fanned five in the defeat. He combined with relievers Allen Caldwell, Chase Boruff and Jon Keck to retire the final 14 LumberKings of the game.

Offensively the Cougars totaled six hits. All of them were singles, and no Cougar reached third base. Going back to Saturday night, no Cougar has reached third base in the last 16 innings. Anthony Fernandez (2-2) got the win for Clinton, and Tyler Burgoon recorded his eighth save.

The Cougars (28-40) open the 2nd half on Friday night at 6:30 CT with the opener of a three-game road series against the Peoria Chiefs. The game will be broadcast on WBIG 1280-AM and online via kccougars.com with pregame coverage starting at 6:15 p.m.
