
Bandits finish first half finale with sweep

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits offense exploded in the last game of the season, collecting nine runs on 13 hits in the 9-1 win. The River Bandits swept the Chiefs, the Bandits third series sweep of the season.
The Bandits pitching staff allowed just four hits in the game. Bandit starter Anthony Ferrara (6-3) went five innings and allowed only one run (unearned) on two hits while striking out one for his second consecutive win in as many starts. Cale Johnson relieved Ferrara and went two scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out one. Hector Corpas came into the game in the eighth and went one inning while striking out one. Aiden Lucas finished things off for the Bandits with one scoreless innings.
Offensively, the Bandits had four players with multi-hit games. Christ Edmondson went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Colin Walsh also went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Oscar Taveras went 2-for-4 with an RBI and extended his home hitting streak to 12 games. Ronny Gil went 2-for-5 in the game, while scoring a run.
Ferrara was opposed by Chiefs starter Graham Hicks (1-3). The left-hander went just 2.1 innings allowing five runs on six hits while striking out one.
The Midwest League Home Run Derby and All-Star game is coming up next at Modern Woodmen Park. The Home Run Derby will be held Monday at 7 p.m., while the All-Star game will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.
