CornBelters Take Down Grizzlies in Normal

NORMAL, IL - Normal scored eighth unanswered runs after trailing 3-1 and cruised to a 9-3 win over the Grizzlies on Sunday night at The Corn Crib. The loss was the third in a row for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies got on the board in the third. Tyler Heil walked and Kent Gerst singled with one out. After a DJ Fitzgerald single, Logan Parker drove in two runs on a single.
Normal (32-33) scored once in the third on a Grizzlies error. Tyler McNeely came around to score on an error by Heil, Gateway's third baseman.
Gateway (27-37) added an unearned run in the fourth inning. Brandon Peters doubled to start the inning. He scored on a bunt by Chris Sedon, followed by a throwing error on Normal first baseman Steven Alexander.
The Cornbelters scored twice in the fourth to tie the game at three. Andrew Barbaro collected an RBI single.
Alexander recorded an RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Cornbelters a 4-3 lead.
Normal blew the game wide open in the sixth inning with five runs on six hits. Tyler Keeble had an RBI double, AJ Miller collected a sacrifice fly, Brandon Newton knocked home one with a double and Alexander drove in two on a single.
Brandon Peters paced the Grizzlies offense with a double and a single.
Andres Caceres Jr. (1-1) took the loss for Gateway, surrendering four runs on four hits in four innings.
The Grizzlies conclude their three game series against the Normal Cornbelters on Monday night. The Grizzlies send rookie right-hander Ryan Juarez (2-1) to the mound in game three of the series. First pitch is set for 7:00 CT.
