CornBelters Drop Season Finale

Normal CornBelters News Release
NORMAL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, concluded their season with a 4-1 loss to the Rockford Aviators on Thursday night at the Corn Crib.
The CornBelters opened the scoring in the second inning with a two-out solo home run by Oscar Garcia over the right field fence. The Aviators tied the game in the fourth inning with an unearned run when Jeff Kremer scored from second base when a relay throw on a double-play attempt was muffed by CornBelters pitcher Drew Provence.
Rockford took the lead in the fifth by putting their first two men on base for the second straight inning with Brian Bistagne scoring on an unsuccessful double play attempt on a fielder's choice from Gabe DeMarco. The Aviators increased their advantage to 4-1 in the eighth inning with a two-out RBI single by Jeff Kremer and a bloop to center by Edgar Corcino.
Nick Cicio (4-6) threw a complete-game six-hitter for the win, striking out 15 without a walk. Provence (6-6) worked seven innings and took the loss. The CornBelters finish their fourth season with a record of 46-50, equaling their best mark set in 2011.
