
Slammers Top Boomers to Win Season Finale

(Schaumburg, IL) - The Joliet Slammers (38-57) ended the 2013 season the right way.
Joliet tops the Schaumburg Boomers (59-37) in the final game of the season on Thursday night 5-2 at Boomer Stadium in Schaumburg, IL. The victory hands the Slammers the series victory two games to one as Joliet won the final two contest in a row.
Luke Goodgion (1-2) picks up the victory, throwing one inning in the sixth after relieving starter Chase Doremus who started the game perfect through three frames before allow two runs in the fourth and fifth. Preston Hatcher (2-3) suffers the loss after losing all sight of the strike zone in the seventh inning. The right-hander threw 1.2 innings and allowed three runs to score with three walks.
Joliet struck first in this game with Zach Colby leading the contest off with a bunt single and after a throwing error by the third baseman Frank Pfister putting Colby in scoring position, Marquis Riley double to deep right field to bring home the game's first run.
The Boomers tied the game on a home run from Gerard Hall and then in the fifth inning, Schaumburg added another run to take a 2-1 lead. But in the seventh Joliet scored three times, being helped out with three walks issued by Preston Hatcher.
The Slammers win by a final score of 5-2 and finish the season with a record of 38-57.
