Corey Kluber becomes former Fort Wayne player # 105 to make it to major leagues

FORT WAYNE, Ind.

- The Cleveland Indians announced on Thursday (September 1) that RHP

Corey Kluber has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus.

Kluber, 25, has spent the entire season at Columbus where he has gone 7-10 with a 5.65ERA in 26 starts (146.2IP, 150H, 99R, 92ER, 67BB, 140K). Over his last 3 starts he recorded an ERA of 3.86 (18.2IP, 11H, 8ER, 8BB, 25K).

Currently, he is 3rd in the International League in strikeouts (140), 8th in innings pitched (146.2),

and tied for 3rd in starts (26).

Kluber was acquired from San Diego last July 31 in a three-team trade that sent RHP Jake Westbrook to the St. Louis Cardinals.

While in the Padres' organization, Kluber spent the 2008 season pitching for the Fort Wayne Wizards (now TinCaps), where he compiled a record of 4-3 with a 3.21ERA (56.0IP, 49H, 25R, 20ER, 13BB, 72K).

With his appearance against Oakland on Thursday (1.1IP, 2H, 0R, 0ER, 1BB, 2K), Kluber became the 105th former Fort Wayne player to have played in the Major Leagues.
