September 3, 2011 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Peoria Chiefs News Release
Peoria, IL - The Saturday night contest between the Peoria Chiefs and Quad Cities River Bandits has been cancelled due to persistent thunderstorms and steady rain. The tarp was placed on the field around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday and was never lifted as heavy rains are expected to continue throughout the evening. With the regular-season ending on Monday, the game will not be rescheduled and both teams will play a single game on Sunday with a regularly scheduled 1:00 p.m. start time.
Fans with tickets to Saturday's game can be exchanged for a ticket to either of the remaining 2011 games or any of the 2012 home games through May 15. The Chiefs expect to start RH Dallas Beeler (1-1, 1.83), who will be piggybacked by RH Brett Wallach (1-4, 6.65), against River Bandits RH Zach Russell (7-7, 4.11) on Sunday. Sunday is Cartoon Day with an appearance by Dora the Explrer and SpongeBob SquarePants. There are also $2 tickets for all kids 12 years of age and younger. Following the game, players will be available for autographs on the concourse and kids 13 and younger are invited to run the bases. There will also be a pregame catch on the field once gates open at 10:30 a.m.
