Lansing Lugnuts News Release
DAYTON, OH - It was the Billy Hamilton show in the first-round playoff preview, as the Dayton Dragons (47-21, 82-56) snapped the Lansing Lugnuts (38-30, 76-59) six-game hitting streak, 4-2 on Saturday night at Fifth Third Field.
Hamilton started the game with a double off Lugnuts starter Justin Nicolino (Loss, 1-1), and never slowed down, finishing 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs scored.
Stalin Gerson (Win, 6-2) worked in and out of trouble in his five innings, leaving the bases loaded in the first, and stranding runners in scoring position in two other innings.
K.C. Hobson scored both the Lugs' runs, finishing 1-for-3 with a triple, and Carlos Perez picked up both RBIs in a 1-for-3 effort. Jake Marisnick finished the game 2-for-4 with a double.
The Dragons send right-hander Kyle Lotzkar (3-1, 4.09) to the mound in game two of the series to face a Lugnuts pitcher yet to be announced on Sunday afternoon.
Lansing will stay in Dayton to play the first game of the 2011 Midwest League playoffs on Wednesday, and then head home to play Game 2 at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday night. It's a Labatt Blue Light Thirsty Thursday and features a post-game concert by The Verve Pipe.
