Connors named Goaltender of the Week

February 18, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Blazers goaltender Sean Connors was named the Oakley Central Hockey League goaltender of the week, the Blazers front office announced today.

Last week, the 6-1, 170-pound Okotoks, Alberta native, won all three of his starts, posted a 1.70 goals against average and .952 saves percentage. In his last five starts, Connors is 4-0-1, with a 2.34 goals against average and .924 saves percentage.

Connors recently surpassed a significant goaltending milestone. He became the first Blazers goaltender to play 10,000 minutes in net. That makes him the 15th goaltender in CHL history to log 10,000 minutes between the pipes and just one of five players in CHL history to log 10,000 minutes in goal for a single CHL team.

This marks the second time this season Connors has received this award.

The Blazers continue their seven-game stretch away from the Ford Center this weekend. Friday evening, they visit the Northwest Division leading Rocky Mountain Rage, followed by their last trip up the Turner Turnpike to battle the Oilers on Saturday.

NOTE: Oklahoma City Blazers head coach Doug Sauter is on the brink of a CHL milestone. His next victory will be his 500th as head coach of the Blazers. He will be the first coach in CHL history to surpass that mark. With two wins, he will surpass the 700-win plateau as a coach of a professional team.
