Oakley CHL Player/Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending February 17th, 2008 are forward Anders Strome of the Texas Brahmas and goaltender Sean Connors of the Oklahoma City Blazers.
Strome scored a goal in each of the Brahmas four victories last week and finished with seven points (5-2=7). The Winnipeg native was a plus five on the week and finished with multiple points in three of the four games for Texas. Strome has led the charge lately for the Brahmas who have won seven straight games and are currently sitting in the fifth and final Northern Conference playoff spot. The 6-3, 222-pound forward has 14 goals and eight assists in his last 16 games (the Brahmas are 13-3-0 over that stretch). For the season, Strome leads the Brahmas with 29 goals and 47 points.
Connors saw action in all four games this week for the Blazers posting a 3-0-0 record. The Okotoks, Alberta native has gone 4-0-1 in his last five decisions and for the week stopped 95% of the shots he faced turning away 113 of 119 shots. His best performance came on Sunday in the Blazers second straight road win in Youngstown when he made 33 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory. Connors allowed two goals in Tuesday's victory over Wichita and Saturday's victory over Youngstown. In Friday's game versus the SteelHounds, Connors replaced Jason Wolfe in the second period and stopped 15 of 16 shots. In Saturday's game, Connors reached a historic milestone going over 10,000 minutes played. He is the first Blazers goaltender to reach that milestone. On the season, Connors is 10-9-3 with a .910 save percentage and a 2.90 goals against average. Connors won the goaltending weekly award back on December 31st in recognition of his 2-0 record for the week of December 24th.
In recognition of their achievements, both Strome and Connors will receive a special gift from Oakley.
