
Connelly Earns Third Straight Shutout In 6-0 Victory Over Toledo

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays (35-15-4-5) toppled the Toledo Walleye (28-23-1-3) 6-0 for their third straight shutout in front of 6,593 at North Charleston Coliseum Sunday evening. Stingrays goaltender Shane Connelly earned his fourth shutout of the season and his third straight stopping all 22 Walleye shots.
Stingrays defenseman Grant Farrell opened the scoring on the power play at 4:09 with his first ECHL goal from forwards Rob Ricci and Matt Scherer. Rookie Trevor Bruess gave the Stingrays a two-goal lead 11 seconds later from forwards Dain Prewitt and Jake Hauswirth. The Stingrays made it 3-0 on the power play with a goal from forward Keith Johnson beating Walleye goaltender Jordan Pearce low blocker side at 7:04 from Trent Campbell and Gregg Johnson.
After a scoreless second period, G. Johnson lit the lamp on the power play at 7:23 of the third frame from defensemen Dylan Yeo and Johann Kroll. Campbell put the Stingrays up 5-0 with his 15 tally of the season at 15:52. Kroll and Farrell each recorded helpers. Prewitt completed the game scoring at 18:19 on the power play beating Pearce under the right arm from Yeo and Hauswirth. Pearce finished the contest kicking aside 18 of 24 Stingrays shots. The Walleye ended the evening 0-for-5 on the power play while the Stingrays went 4-for-7.
