Bakersfield Condors News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced the division and conference alignments and the format for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs which were both unanimously approved by the ECHL Board of Governors at its Annual Meeting on June 21-22.
The Condors will play in the National Conference Pacific Division alongside the other California teams: Fresno, Long Beach, San Diego and Stockton. Four of those five teams will qualify for the playoffs and four of the six teams in the West Division (Alaska, Idaho, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Utah and Victoria) will make the playoffs. The two National Conference divisions will have divisional playoff series, then head-to-head for the National Conference representative in the Kelly Cup Final.
The ECHL welcomes the Phoenix Roadrunners, the Stockton Thunder and the Utah Grizzlies in 2005-06 and will have 27 teams playing in 16 states and British Columbia beginning October 21 and ending April 8. Every team begins the season with the goal of winning the Patrick J. Kelly Cup, presented annually to the league postseason champion and won in 2005 by the Trenton Titans, who defeated the Florida Everblades in the finals.
The countdown is on until the drop of the puck on the 2005-06 season. Opening Night 2005 is only 121 short days away, when the Condors will open at home against the Victoria Salmon Kings on Saturday, October 22nd. Season tickets are on sale now at the Condors office located at 1001 Truxtun Avenue or by calling at 324-PUCK (7825).
