Salmon Kings stay in the West Division after ECHL realignmen

Victoria, BC - With the addition of the Phoenix Roadrunners, Stockton Thunder and the Utah Grizzlies to the West, the ECHL Board of Governors has voted unanimously to re-align the leagues Division's and Conference's and to adopt a new Kelly Cup Play-off format.

The Victoria Salmon Kings remain in the West Division with five other teams including the Alaska Aces, Idaho Steelheads, Las Vegas Wranglers, Phoenix Roadrunners and the Utah Grizzlies.

Making the playoffs just got a little easier for the Salmon Kings as the four top teams of the six team division will make the post season. The Salmon Kings' West Division remains in the National Conference with the addition of the newly formed Pacific Division consisting of the California based franchises including the Bakersfield Condors, Fresno Falcons, Long Beach Ice Dogs, San Diego Gulls and the Stockton Thunder.

The divisional play-offs will have the first/fourth and second/third place teams facing each other in first round best of seven series. The winners will then face each other in a second round best of seven series with the winner advancing to face the Pacific Division Champions to determine the National Conference Kelly Cup representative.

The 27 team ECHL has essentially been broken into East and West coast Conferences with 16 teams making up the American (East) Conference and 11 teams in the National (West).
