Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA (June 23, 2005) - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that "Iron Dog," and "Iron Puppy," will no longer be the team's mascots.

A soon to be named Chief will return to the War Memorial this season. The Chiefs had a similar mascot in the franchises earlier years in Johnstown. The mascot is currently being manufactured and should be in Johnstown by August.

"We have been looking to increase the excitement in the arena this season and what a better way then bringing back the Chief. We have done our home work and we think this mascot will appeal to the fans," said Chiefs President Jim Weber. "We are asking the fans to help us come up with a name for the new mascot."

All fans are encouraged to submit name suggestions for the new mascot. The winning name will receive four tickets for the Chiefs home opener on October 22nd. Mascot name suggestions can be e-mailed to info@johnstownchiefs.com .
