Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have signed F Travis Granbois (GRAN-bwah) and C Matthew Myers. The announcement was made by Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond. Granbois, 23, signs with the Condors having split time in the United Hockey League and International Hockey League over the past three seasons. As a member of Bloomington of the IHL during the 2008-09 season, Granbois successfully combined toughness with his scoring touch, finishing first on the team with 105 PIM and fifth on the team with 38 points in just 49 games.

"I've always wanted to be part of the ECHL and I know Bakersfield is a great organization with fans that really support the team," said Granbois. "I spoke to Shaun Fisher, who used to play for the Condors and he said it was a good place to play. It's an organization that always puts a winning team on the ice."

A 6-foot 1-inch, 200-lb native of Campbell River, British Columbia, Granbois posted 10g-21a-31pts, along with 136 PIM in 72 games with Kalamazoo of the IHL in 2007-08. Granbois made his professional debut with Quad City of the UHL in 2006-07. He spent his junior career playing for Bonnyville of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. _______________________________________________ What Marty Raymond says about Travis Granbois: "Travis is a first-class agitator who is a good skater and finishes checks," said Raymond. "He will do anything to get under the skin of the opposition. Travis is also versatile, playing 20 games or so on defense last season. We're happy to have him here because he'll make a good addition to the team." _______________________________________________

Myers, 24, hails from Cardiff, Wales. He has spent the past eight seasons playing professionally in Great Britain-the past five in the Elite Ice Hockey League. Myers recorded a career high 45 points in 51 games with Nottingham in 2008-09. In 348 career British Elite League games, Myers has 49g-96a-145pts with 404 PIM.

At 6-foot 1-inch, 189-lb, Myers has also represented Team England in 38 international games, posting 17g-25a-42pts in 38 games. Most recently, he skated in three games for Team England for the 2010 Olympic Games Qualifier.

"This is a very important time for me since it's very difficult for those of us from Britain to play in the United States," said Myers. "I'm grateful for the opportunity and look forward to playing in Bakersfield. Marty told me he was putting together a good team and hoping to win some silverware this year." __________________________________________________ What Marty Raymond says about Matthew Myers: "Matthew skates well and is good offensively," said Raymond. "He is also responsible defensively and great on faceoffs. He's determined to come to North America to get to the next level. Matt is another guy who wants to be here, and will do whatever he can to make this team better. He's a big acquisition." __________________________________________________

Granbois and Myers join a Condors roster that includes RW Nick Kemp, D Raymond Eichenlaub, F Erick Lizon and D Pierre-Luc Lessard.
