Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (9- 9-4, 18 pts) today acquired center Dave Bonk from the Columbia Inferno in exchange for future considerations.

Bonk, 23, arrives from Columbia after 24 games with the Inferno. Bonk ranked second on the Inferno roster in assists (13) and third in points (18). The 5-foot-10, 170-pound center is in his second season as a professional following his rookie campaign with the Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League in 2004-05. Playing alongside NHL veterans such as Bryan Smolinski, Chris Chelios, Sean Avery and Derian Hatcher during the lockout, Bonk racked up 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points in 66 games.

Prior to his entry into the pro ranks, Bonk spent four years with the Northern Michigan Wildcats of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The Brandon, Manitoba native scored nine goals and 16 assists in 74 games from 2000-04.

"We were looking to bring in someone with some punch and attack," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "We think he's a good defensive forward that can provide us with some offense."

Bonk will be available to dress for the Condors for the team's next game on Monday, December 26th, when the Condors host the Las Vegas Wranglers. All fans in attendance will receive a free Condors Holiday Poster courtesy of UPN-45 and Rio Bravo Country Club. The team will also celebrate the Canadian tradition of Boxing Day, and fans are invited to box up their older gifts for donation to Goodwill Industries.
