San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have been plenty busy on the ice so far during the 2005-06 season. But it's been just as busy off the ice for the players, coaches and front office staff, as they once again make their presence felt in America's Finest City.

Here's an updated list of some of the events the players and staff have attended (for a complete list of events log onto www.sandiegogulls.com and click "Events" under the schedule menu):

Oct. 31: Doug MacIver and Steve Hildenbrand participated in the first-ever "Bowling for Dreams" night, a fundraiser for the Dream Factory and 11-year old San Diegan Patrick Ivision, who suffered a major spinal cord injury when he was younger. The Gulls will be holding another fundraiser for Patrick at their March 12 home game.

Nov. 14: The Gulls and the Athletes for Education Foundation held the first-ever celebrity golf tournament at Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club. All current Gulls players, front office staff members and past Gulls legends participated in the tournament, which benefited AFE's "Tickets for Tomorrow" mentorship program.

Nov. 15: Chief Operating Officer Tera Black and Director of Public Relations Jeremy Zager participated in Bonsall West Elementary School's "Reading Day." Black and Zager each read to two different classes, promoting the importance of staying in school.

Nov. 23: Newly appointed assistant coach B.J. MacPherson appeared live on the Fox 6 morning show with Chrissy Russo. MacPherson promoted San Diego's Pooch Party on Nov. 25 and the San Diego Fire Department's new rescue dog.

Nov. 30: Team captain Jonathon Shockey, Guillaume Fournier, Tom Lawson and Martin Mandeville appeared at the Horton Square ice rink, collecting toys for NBC 7/39's Toys for Tots program. They were also interviewed live on NBC 7/39.
