October 22, 2022 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release
Despite three unanswered goals to come back from a 4-1 deficit in the third. The IceDogs came up short in Sarnia.
Going down 1-0 just under the 5 minute mark, an Aidan Castle one-timer in the slot off of a feed from Juan Copeland and David Jesus tied the game up on the power-play 12 minutes in. After 20 minutes, the game remained tied with shots 15-12 in favour of the Sting.
Sarnia came out quick in the second to score at the 2 minute mark and extending their lead later on by a pair of goals. The shots stayed low for both sides, 8 for Sarnia and just 4 for the visiting IceDogs in the second frame.
Despite the Sting taking a 4-1 lead, 2 minutes later, IceDogs leading goal scorer Aidan Castle goes five-hole off of a feed from Pano Fimis for his second of the night. David Jesus also picked up his second point of the night on the goal. 17 seconds later, Nathan Ribau fired one from the point off a Zito pass get his first as an IceDog and close the game within one. With the momentum shifted in favour of Niagara, Pano Fimis stole the puck and found the back of the net to tie the game at 4 a piece.
Unfortunately the comeback was not enough in the end with a late Sting goal in the third.
The IceDogs are off to Windsor tomorrow to take on the Spitfires at 4:05 PM.
We're back at home vs the London Knights next week on Thursday, October 27th. Tickets are available for purchase here.
