Head-to-head:

These two teams have seen a lot of each other recently playing 26 times over the last three seasons. In those 26 games, Kitchener holds the overall advantage with a 13-10-2-1 record. Half of those were played at the Sleeman Centre, the venue for tonight's matchup. Spanning back to the 2018-19 regular season, Kitchener owns an 8-4-0-1 record away to Guelph. Their most impressive run was taking all four road games from Guelph in the 2019-20 regular season going 4-0-0-0. However, the last meeting at Sleeman Centre was a 3-2 overtime loss, so the Blueshirts will look to get back into the win column in an arena that's historically been favourable for them.

Most recently, the Rangers put on an offensive clinic defeating the Wolves by a score of 7-2. Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) recorded a hat-trick and Filip Mešár (Montréal Canadiens) recorded four points in his Rangers debut. The Storm hosted Oshawa at the Sleeman Centre Friday and lost 4-3 in regulation. Danny Zhilkin (Winnipeg Jets) leads the Storm offensively with a goal and an assist.

Scouting the Rangers:

Defenceman Hunter Brzustewicz comes into tonight's game with a six-game point streak recording eight assists over that span. Hunter recorded one assist in Kitchener's last game against Sudbury. Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) joined Hunter atop the points lead on the Rangers with eight after recording his first hat-trick of the season. Mitchell Martin enters tonight's game hot adding a four-point night of his own.

Filip Mešár (Montréal Canadiens) impressed in his Rangers debut tallying one goal and three assists. Chemistry was quickly built between Filip and his linemates as they played a big role in securing a second consecutive win for Kitchener.

Tomas Hamara (Ottawa Senators), Filip Mešár (Montréal Canadiens), Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) and Roman Schmidt (Tampa Bay Lightning) are four Kitchener skaters that are both drafted and signed by their NHL clubs respectively.

Scouting the Storm:

Forward Sasha Pastujov (Anaheim Ducks) returns to the Storm this season after leading the team in goals and points last season posting 76 points (34G, 42A) in 65 games played. Sasha is off to another point per game pace with four points (2G, 2A) in four games for the Storm this season. Matthew Poitras (Boston Bruins) opened this season with a five-game point streak with 8 points (2G, 6A) which is still good for the team lead this season through their first seven games. Defenceman Cam Allen returns for his second OHL season as the third overall selection in the 2021 OHL entry draft. In his rookie season, Cam recorded 37 points (13G, 24A) in 65 games and was a +13. That was good for second on the Storm blueline in plus/minus, only trailing Michael Buchinger who was a +15.

Michael Buchinger (St. Louis Blues), Jake Karabela (Washington Capitals), Sasha Pastujov (Anaheim Ducks), Matthew Poitras (Boston Bruins), and Danny Zhilkin (Winnipeg Jets) are the skaters on the Guelph Storm roster that have been drafted by their NHL teams respectively.
