Brampton Steelheads News Release

After dropping the first game of the back to back, the Steelheads looked to get back on track against their division rivals from Sudbury, and were successful as they completed a comeback against the Wolves.

First Period

The Steelheads were looking to bounce back after last night's setback as they took on the Sudbury Wolves. The game started off with a bang, as Luca DelBelBelluz potted his 16th goal of the season just 3:14 into the game, with the assists going to James Hardie and Ethan Del Mastro.

The Steelheads kept up the pressure in the Wolves' zone, which resulted in another power play for the Trout. This time, it was Hardie who shot it past the left shoulder of Mitchell Weeks 6:40 into the period. The assists went to DelBelBelluz and Del Mastro.

Starter Joe Ranger made a number of big saves around the halfway mark of the period, with the Wolves applying good pressure, but Ranger stood tall. The Steelheads kept up the pressure and it resulted in another power play, but they were unable to capitalize before the period ended.

Second Period

After a dominant first period, the second was a different story for the Steelheads. Just past the 11 minute mark of the period, Quinten Musty of the Wolves was left all alone in front, but Ranger was able to keep the game tied with a huge helmet save. Weeks was stellar for the Wolves, as he made big stops on Kai Schwindt on a breakaway and Callum Chisholm on a 3-on-1 in the second half of the period.

Late in the period, Sudbury was finally able to beat Ranger with a flurry of goals. First, Evan Konyen scored on a breakaway off of a pass from Ethan Larmand. Just 29 seconds later, David Goyette was able to corral a bobbling puck and put it past Ranger. The assists went to Jack Thompson and Dominik Jendek. Then, with 1:18 remaining in the period, Landon McCallum tipped a shot in the slot over Ranger. Andre Anania and Nolan Collins were awarded assists on the go-ahead goal.

Third Period

The third period began with some back and forth play as the Steelheads looked to tie the game up. Just under 8 minutes into the period, the Steelheads were able to draw even thanks to Zakary Lavoie, who scored his 10th of the season off of a backhand pass from Aidan Prueter. Evan Brand was credited with the second assist. Prueter's assist marks his 100th career OHL point.

The second half of the period featured some conservative hockey, as each team didn't want to be the one to give up the go-ahead goal. With 5 minutes left in the period, the Steelheads broke in on a 3-on-2, but were unable to register a shot on goal. With 30 seconds left in the period, Ranger made a big save to keep the game tied going into overtime.

Overtime

Overtime started with each team getting a couple of chances. With just over 2 minutes remaining in the frame, the Steelheads broke in on an odd man rush, and after a number of chances were thwarted by Weeks, Charlie Callaghan was able to score his 3rd of the season to win the game for the Steelheads. The assists went to Luke Misa and DelBelBelluz, earning him his third point of the night.
