Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT - The Comeback Carp were at it again Sunday afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium.
Beloit rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat the Cedar Rapids Kernels 13-6 on the strength of 18 hits.
The Kernels scored a run in the first inning before adding three in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 6-0 advantage.
Beloit began its comeback in the fourth with a single run. The real effort came in the fifth and sixth innings, when the Sky Carp scored 10 total runs.
The four-run rally in the fifth included a two-run single by Cam Barstad and an RBI hit from Jorge Caballero.
Beloit took the lead for good with a six-run sixth inning. Caballero, Osiris Johnson and Joshua Zamora each had run-scoring singles in the frame.
Beloit added to the lead in the eighth with two more runs on RBI doubles from Zamora, who finished the game 4-for-5, and red-hot Tanner Allen.
Franklin Sanchez picked up the win with a scoreless inning in relief.
Every Beloit batter with the exception of Zach Zubia recorded a hit. And Zubia had a productive day as well with three walks. Beloit's first 15 hits were singles before Johnson led off the eighth with a double.
The Sky Carp will take Monday off before welcoming in the Quad Cities River Bandits for a six-game series. Tuesday night's contest will begin at 6:35 p.m.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
