Columbus thrashes Rome, 14-1

Rome, GA- Rome, GA - The Columbus Catfish defeated the Rome Braves 14-1 at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,544 fans to even the four game series at a game a piece.

In the top of the second Columbus would jump out in front and never look back. Maiko Loyola and Mike McCormick both singled. A double steal moved both runners into scoring position and Henry Wrigley grounded out scoring Loyola. Joey Callender then singled to left scoring McCormick for the 2-0 score. The next inning Emeel Salem singled and Cody Cipriano drove him in with an RBI double to left. Fronk then grounded out moving Cipriano to third and a wild pitch by Locke scored Cipriano making the score 4-0.

The Catfish would break the game wide open with a seven run fourth making it 11-0 highlighted by a three RBI double from Fronk.

Columbus would add two more runs in the fifth and one in the ninth. The Braves lone score happened in the fifth when Yohan Silva drew a lead off walk and Concepcion Rodriguez singled to right. Samuel Sime then reached on an error by Omar Luna scoring Silva.

Columbus's starter Cobb picked up the win (1-1) and Travis Risser gets the save (1). Jeffrey Locke takes the loss (0-2).
