Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, S.C. - If you're an avid golfer, and even if you're not, you probably know of a mulligan. So in the spirit of The Masters which begins this week, the Greenville Drive will be using their mulligan during the team's next home stand, April 15-18.
"We appreciate all of the support our fans showed during the Opening Weekend despite the cold and rainy weather," commented Drive General Manager Mike deMaine. "As a reward for that dedication, and as a way to make sure that all of our ticket plan holders and fans enjoy the opening of the 2008 season as it was intended to be, we are going to use our mulligan and stage a "do-over"."
All of the special festivities begin again on Tuesday, April 15th with Jackie Robinson Night presented by Michelin, honoring 61 years to the day that Robinson broke Major League Baseball's color barrier. The Drive organization will retire Robinson's number 42 jersey and it will become a permanent fixture at Fluor Field at the West End. Following Tuesday's game, fans will be treated to a repeat of the fireworks display that was held on Opening Day.
The first Greenville Drive Businessperson's Special presented by Find Great People, will be Wednesday, April 16th. The first pitch between the Drive and visiting Greensboro Grasshoppers is slated for 11:05 AM. During the game Find Great People will showcase their expertise and array of service capabilities along the concourse at the ballpark.
Thursday's game will be the first $1 Drink Night of the 2008 season at Fluor Field. Fans of all ages can purchase 12 ounce Coca-Cola fountain products at any of the Drive concession stands for just one buck, while fans 21-years of age and older can head over to the Spinx 500 Club for $1 draft beer specials.
To cap off the Drive's Mulligan Week of events will be the Drive's first Friday Night Fireworks spectacular on April 18th, presented by Carolina First. New for 2008 is that each Friday fireworks show will showcase a different musical theme, with the first show of the year featuring music from the Beatles.
Drive Co-owner and President Craig Brown noted, "Our fans once again showed this past weekend that they are among the most loyal fans in Professional Baseball as they ventured out in the less than ideal weather conditions which tried to put a damper on all the festivities." Brown added, "We wanted to thank our fans for their loyalty by using our "mulligan" to replay many of our special opening weekend events over this coming home stand. We hope to see everyone back at the ballpark beginning April 15th!"
