Columbus Recalls Novak

Syracuse, NY (January 17, 2007) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Filip Novak. The team also announced that they have recalled defenseman Brad Farynuk from Dayton (ECHL).

Novak, 24, has appeared in 35 games with Syracuse this season, tallying 2 goals, 20 assists and 64 penalty minutes. He has appeared in four games with Columbus this season, recording four penalty minutes. In 227 career AHL games with San Antonio, Binghamton and Syracuse, Novak has tallied 22 goals, 94 assists and 285 penalty minutes. Originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round, 64th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic native, Novak was signed as a free agent by the Columbus Blue Jackets on August 9, 2006.

Farynuk, 24, has appeared in 26 games with Dayton this season, recording 1 goal, 10 assists and 23 penalty minutes. Farynuk appeared in three games with Syracuse earlier this season, without registering a point. A native of Enderby, British Columbia, Farynuk was signed by Syracuse this off-season.
