
Columbus Destroyers To Open Training Camp on Friday, February 9 at Columbus FieldHouse

COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Destroyers, presented by Germain, are set to open their fourth training camp in Columbus on Friday, February 9. After closing out the 2006 season with their best record in franchise history, 8-8, the Destroyers will look to build off their success to begin the 2007 season. Practices will be held at the Columbus FieldHouse (6124 Busch Blvd., Columbus, OH 43229) beginning on Friday, February 9 at 8:30 a.m.
In addition to players and coaches being available after the second practice at training camp, Head Coach Doug Kay, all coaches and all players will be available at Media Day. Media Day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 20 after the Destroyers scrimmage against the Chicago Rush, which will begin at 11 a.m. on Huntington Field at Nationwide Arena.
With key off-season acquisitions of quarterback Matt Nagy; wide receivers Josh Bush, Tony Locke and Damien Groce; and key returnees 2006 AFL Defensive Player of the Year Jerald Brown, lineman Kelvin Kinney, wide receivers David Saunders, B.J. Barre and Marcus Knight, the Destroyers will look to make the AFL playoffs for the first time since moving to Columbus and third time in franchise history (2000 and 2002).
