McMillen officially back with Rush
February 8, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
Bob McMillen, the Arena Football League's all-time leading rusher and one of the 20 greatest players in AFL history, officially returned to the Rush this week when he signed a one-year contract for the 2007 season, the team announced today.
The 2007 season will be McMillen's 13th, and last, in the AFL. He has stated that he will retire at the end of the season.
"I still have a passion for the game and wanted to return to the Rush for one more year to help my teammates defend our ArenaBowl title," said McMillen. "The coaches did a great job keeping the core of the team together this year and have adding some very talented players to the mix. I am confident we will be able to make another run at a title."
"Bob is a true professional in every sense of the word and one of the big reasons we were able to win the title last season," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We are glad to know he will be back in a Rush uniform this year."
McMillen enters the year ranked first in AFL history with 1,417 career rushing yards, second with 449 career attempts and third with 80 rushing touchdowns. In addition, he is one of only two players in AFL history to win an ArenaBowl title with three different teams (Arizona, San Jose and Chicago).
The Rush opens its season March 4 at Kansas City. The team's home opener at Allstate Arena is set for 7 pm. Friday, March 9, against San Jose. Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the San Jose game, or any one of Chicago's eight home games, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
