Statement from Columbus Destroyers Head Coach Doug Kay...
"I am truly saddened by the tragic events of early Wednesday morning as Matt (Pagel) was about to join the Destroyers family. He was a talented young gentleman who gave his heart to the game of football. On behalf of the Columbus Destroyers and the Arena Football League my deepest condolences go out to his family and friends."
Statement from Chad Pagel, Matt's brother...
"He was an exceptional young gentleman and great with the family. He never had anything but a smile on his face and could never hurt a soul.
"Matt has many friends who he's touched through the years in the game of football. He always pushed his friends to strive for more and believed that everyone could make it to the 'next level.' He will be sorely missed by all those lives he's touched and by our family."
