Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 9) - The Orlando Predators concluded mini-camp on Thursday with a two hour practice and will officially open training camp in pads on Friday, Feb. 10. The team will practice twice in back-to-back fashion on Friday morning, beginning at 8:45 a.m. and concluding at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The practice is open to both media and fans and will be held at Thunder Field, adjacent to the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.

At the conclusion of their mini-camp the Predators reduced their roster by three, releasing defensive lineman Lorenzo Davis, defensive back Paul Cannings and defensive back Kevin Washington. The moves left the Predators with 33 players on their roster - four less than AFL rules allow for training camp.

Head Coach Jay Gruden did not rule out the possibility of bringing additional players in to compete for roster spots. "AFL rosters tend to be very fluid in training camp," Gruden said. "We continue to look for players we think can help us during the next couple of weeks."

Camp Notes: A few errant passes from back-up quarterback Jake Eaton prompted head coach Jay Gruden to question Eaton on whether he got a "a lot of throwing in this winter"...Eaton lives in snowy Maine in the off-season...quarterback Shane Stafford will present the "Quarterback of the Year" award and lineman Greg White will present the "Lineman of the Year" award at Saturday's "Friday Night Lights Awards Show," honoring Central Florida's best prep players...the team will engage in a scrimmage with the Tampa Bay Storm on Friday, March 16.
