Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Center Michael Chaput to Springfield

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Michael Chaput to the Springfield Falcons, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Chaput, 22, has recorded two assists with eight penalty minutes and averaged 10:51 of ice time while playing in all 18 games this season with the Blue Jackets. The Montreal, Quebec native, who made his NHL debut on Oct. 27, 2013 vs. Anaheim, has recorded three points (3a) with 10 penalty minutes in 35 career NHL games. Acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 28, 2012, Chaput has also recorded 77 points (32g, 45a) and 108 penalty minutes in 128 career AHL games with the Falcons.
