Columbus Blue Jackets Acquire Jason Williams from Atlanta Thrashers

Syracuse, NY (January 15, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired center Jason Williams from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for defenseman Clay Wilson and a sixth round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Williams, 28, has appeared in 41 games for Atlanta this season, posting seven goals, 11 assists and eight penalty minutes. He has skated in 337 NHL games with Detroit, Chicago and Atlanta, recording 73 goals, 103 assists and 123 penalty minutes. A native of London, Ontario, Williams was signed by Atlanta as a free agent on July 14, 2008.

Wilson, 25, has appeared in 33 games with the Crunch this season, tallying eight goals, 12 assists and six penalty minutes. He has also skated in five games with Columbus this year, notching one assist. A native of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, Wilson was acquired by Columbus along with Aaron Rome from Anaheim in exchange for Geoff Platt on November 14, 2007.

The Crunch's next game is Friday, January 16 as they take on the Albany River Rats at the War Memorial at Oncenter at 7:30 p.m.
