
Columbus Assigns Derek MacKenzie to Crunch and Reassigns Jon Landry from Johnstown to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (January 15, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Derek MacKenzie to the Crunch and reassigned defenseman Jon Landry from Johnstown to Syracuse.
MacKenzie, 27, has appeared in 23 games for the Crunch this season, tallying eight goals, 10 assists and 22 penalty minutes, ranking him fourth on the club in scoring. He has also skated in one game for Columbus this year, picking up two penalty minutes January 13 vs. Colorado.
A native of Sudbury, Ontario, MacKenzie originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fifth round, 128th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed by Columbus as a free agent on July 11, 2007.
Landry, 24, has appeared in 37 games for Johnstown (ECHL) this season, posting seven goals, 14 assists and 36 penalty minutes, leading all Johnstown defensemen and tying him for seventh in scoring among ECHL defensemen. On December 31, Landry was named a starter for the ECHL's American Conference All-Star team.
A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Landry was signed by Columbus as a free agent on March 19, 2007.
