COMMERCE CITY, Colo - Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown has been named MLS Player of the Week, following his two-goal performance in the Rapids' dominant 3-0 win over the Houston Dynamo on Sunday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Brown scored his third goal of the season just four minutes into the match, powering home a close-range header after a pinpoint cross from defender Marvell Wynne. The Jamaica international doubled Colorado's lead later in the first half, finishing with a low strike from distance after a brilliant through ball from Dillon Powers.

The runner-up for MLS Rookie of the Year in 2013, Brown's four goals is second on the Rapids in 2014, behind Vicente Sánchez with five (though four of Sánchez's goals have come from the penalty spot). This is the first Player of the Week nod for Brown, and just the second time a Rapids player has earned the honor since July of 2011, following striker Gabriel Torres, who captured the honor in October of 2013. The award is voted on by members of the North American Soccer Reporters.

The Rapids' win on Sunday was the first of three games in seven days, with Colorado hosting the Chicago Fire this Wednesday, with tickets available by clicking here or calling 303-825-GOAL. The team then faces FC Dallas in the first meeting against the Texas side since Oscar Pareja became its new head coach in the offseason.
