Colorado Rapids News Release

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - For the first two months the Colorado Rapids were scoring at the pace of a DMV line, raising a number of questions. Aweek can put a lot of notions on hold, however.

Second-year forwardDeshorn Brownscored twice in the first half andKamani Hilladded a spectacular goal to lead the Rapids to a 3-0 home win over the Houston Dynamo in another one-sided affair at Dick's Sporting Goods Parkon Sunday evening.

After Houston'sOmar Cummingsmissed a wide-open header in the opening minutes, Colorado seemed to be playing on a titled field against the Dynamo.

In just the 5th minute, right backMarvell Wynneput feather touch on a cross pass to a streaking Brown, who headed in his third goal of the season to keep Colorado's sudden offensive onslaught on track after off last week's 4-1 win over Montreal.

Colorado's Kamani Hill had a chance to stretch the lead 10 minutes later but took too long to get off a wide open shot and Houston'sCorey Ashemade a fantastic diving slide to clear the ball off the goal line.

Brown, who returned from international duty with the Jamaican National Team earlier in the week, then added his second of the match. TeammateDillon Powersmade eye contact with Brown and sent alooping pass into space on the right side of the box, where Brown caught up to it before burying it past goalkeeperTally Hallinto the far corner of the net as the offside flag stayed down.

It was the first time this season the Rapids had scored more than one goal in the first half of game. And that came in a game that could have had double the scoring as Houston had few answers.

In the second half, Hill scored for the second straight game when he did his best Bruce Lee impersonation, soaring into the air to connect on a beautiful back heel shot off a Powers corner kick. The goal, whichis sure to receive consideration for the week's best, sealed the match and sent Houston to their third straight defeat.

The Rapids have now scored seven goals in their past two games, a feat that took them eight games to do prior to that.

Colorado next host the Chicago Fire on Wednesday while Houston return to Texas to host Sporting KC on Friday night.
