Colorado Rapids Draw Minnesota United FC for U.S. Open Cup Round of 32
April 21, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
The Rapids will visit the Twin Cities again for a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 matchup in May.
After the Burgundy Boys' finish atop the Western Conference in 2021, they enter the competition after the conclusion of the third round, in which the Loons defeated USL side Forward Madison 2-0 on Wednesday.
Robin Fraser's side will travel to Allianz Field for the second time this year for the round of 32 fixture on May 10-11 after falling to the Loons 3-1 on April 16.
The matchup with Minnesota marks Colorado's return to the Open Cup since being knocked out by New Mexico United in 2019 following a penalty shootout. Current Rapids Diego Rubio and Nicolas Mezquida both recorded goals in the fourth round defeat by the USL side.
