LAST WEEK IN REVIEW

Tuesday, November 1; Colorado Eagles Make Roster Moves

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that goaltenders Andrew Penner & Chris Carrozzi (pronounced: car-oh-zee), along with rookie forward Patrick Cey (pronounced: say) have been added to the roster. In addition, goaltender Mike Garman and rookie forward Pat Knowlton -- both Colorado natives -- have been waived.

Penner has played in 101 games for the Eagles over the past three seasons, becoming the team's all-time leader in wins during that span with an overall record of 63-26-8. The netminder has a well-established professional resume, having played in 100 games at the EHCL level and another 95 in the AHL.

Carrozzi, sent to the team through its affiliations, was a 6th round draft pick (#154 overall) of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2008, and will be entering his second professional season after spending 47 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators and one game with the AHL's Chicago Wolves last year. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound netminder was a member of Canada's U-18 gold medal-winning team at the 2007-08 World Junior Championships, and he was also named the OHL's Goaltender of the Year in 2009-10.

Cey is the younger brother of former Eagles goalie Morgan Cey, and is coming off a strong four year collegiate career at Umass-Lowell. In 200 games for the River Hawks, the 6-foot-1-inch, 183-pound forward recorded 108 points (49-59-108) and 99 penalty minutes.

Knowlton played in six games for Colorado this season (accumulating a goal and an assist) and nine games for the Gwinnett Gladiators last year. Garman played in two games for the Eagles, getting his first professional start and also coming off the bench midway through a game last weekend.

Friday, November 4; Winnipeg Jets Re-Assign Marto to IceCaps

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that the Jets have re-assigned rookie defenseman Jake Marto to the IceCaps.

This will be Marto's first stint in the AHL after playing the first seven games of his pro career with the Eagles in the ECHL. In those seven games, Marto recorded three points (all assists), a plus-1 plus/minus rating and two penalty minutes.

"Jake is a fantastic young man with a lot of talent and we wish him the best of luck with the IceCaps," said Colorado Eagles head coach & general manager Chris Stewart. "If and when he gets returned to us, we'll be exicted to plug him back into the lineup, and both him and us will be better for his time spent in the AHL."

Friday, November 4; Four-Goal Second Puts Reign Past Eagles

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Ontario Reign defeated the Colorado Eagles, 4-1, in the first of back-to-back games -- and the second of three in a row -- between the two teams. Ontario scored all four of its goals in the second period, riding the strong 20 minutes of play all the way to the win.

Saturday, November 5; Reign Dampens Eagles' Firefighter Appreciation Night

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Ontario Reign defeated the Colorado Eagles, 6-2, to take both games of a weekend set at the Budweiser Events Center. Jean-Francois Berube picked up his first win of the season, while Chris Carrozzi suffered the loss in his first start of the year in his first game with the Eagles.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Wednesday, Nov. 9; Eagles Host Grizzlies on Altitude for Military Appreciation Night

Colorado and Utah will meet for the first of 13 total match-ups this season, the most the Eagles will see any opponent. The game will be the Eagles' annual Military Appreciation Night game, and will be broadcast on Altitude Sports & Entertainment. Utah enters the week as the Western Conference's best team with a record of 7-2-0.

Friday, Nov. 11 & Saturday, Nov. 12; Eagles Head To Utah for Weekend Set, Finishing "Mini-Series"

The Eagles will travel to Utah to finish a three-game "mini series" with a pair of back-to-back games this weekend. It will be the last time the teams meet this month, prior to matching up seven times in December. The Grizzlies are 4-1 at home so far this season, but the games have been close, with Utah out-scoring their opponents 13-12 in those contests.

NOTABLE NUMBERS

HOMEVEMBER - Over the next two months the Eagles' schedule will feature a drastic swing in terms of the amount of home and road games. This Wednesday's game will be the third of eight home games in November, compared to just two road games. Once December gets here, however, the Eagles will play just four games at the BEC, compared to 11 on the road.

FIRST OF MANY - The Eagles will take on the Utah Grizzlies 13 times this season -- more than any other opponent -- with the first meeting coming on Wednesday. Over half of their scheduled match-ups (7) will come in December, including all four of the Eagles' home games.

RARE AIR - The Eagles have lost three games in a row at the Budweiser Events Center, matching the longest home losing streak in team history. In eight seasons in the CHL the Eagles lost three straight games at home just twice. Overall in 519 all-time regular season games, Colorado has only had five losing streaks of three games or longer, none longer than 4 games in a row.

WELL, SHOOT - The Eagles have been out-shot in eight of their nine games so far this season and rank 18th out of 20 teams in both shots-for (28.4) and shots-against (36.2) per game. They have recorded double-digit shots in a period just 12 times (44% of the time), while allowing double-digit shots 20 times (74% of the time).

THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG - Chad Costello registered a point in each of the season's first seven games, ranking as the 2nd-longest point streak in the league so far this season. After being shutout in the 8th game, it took him just 76 seconds to get back on the scoresheet in the team's 9th game when he scored the game's first goal. Costello is tied for 5th among ECHL players with 13 points (4-9-13).
