Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that goaltenders Andrew Penner & Chris Carrozzi (pronounced: car-oh-zee), along with rookie forward Patrick Cey (pronounced: say) have been added to the roster. In addition, goaltender Mike Garman and rookie forward Pat Knowlton -- both Colorado natives -- have been waived.
Penner has played in 101 games for the Eagles over the past three seasons, becoming the team's all-time leader in wins during that span with an overall record of 63-26-8. The netminder has a well-established professional resume, having played in 100 games at the EHCL level and another 95 in the AHL.
Carrozzi, sent to the team through its affiliations, was a 6th round draft pick (#154 overall) of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2008, and will be entering his second professional season after spending 47 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators and one game with the AHL's Chicago Wolves last year. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound netminder was a member of Canada's U-18 gold medal-winning team at the 2007-08 World Junior Championships, and he was also named the OHL's Goaltender of the Year in 2009-10.
Cey is the younger brother of former Eagles goalie Morgan Cey, and is coming off a strong four year collegiate career at Umass-Lowell. In 200 games for the River Hawks, the 6-foot-1-inch, 183-pound forward recorded 108 points (49-59-108) and 99 penalty minutes.
Knowlton played in six games for Colorado this season (accumulating a goal and an assist) and nine games for the Gwinnett Gladiators last year. Garman played in two games for the Eagles, getting his first professional start and also coming off the bench midway through a game last weekend.
