DULUTH, GA - The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated division rival Florida 3-2 in their third meeting this season on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Joey Haddad scored an unassisted goal to put the Glads up by one for the win late in the third period.

The Gladiators (5-2-1-0) and the Everblades (2-5-0-1) skated to a scoreless tie in the first period with Florida out shooting Gwinnett 10-5.

Leading scorer for the Glads, rookie Tyler Helfrich, opened the scoring at 8:13 of the second period with the help of Pat Galivan and Chris Clackson. Galivan fed Helfrich in the slot and the former Everblades beat goalie Pat Nagle to the far side.

Everblades forwards Philip-Michael Devos and Alex Hutchings put two pucks in the net giving Florida a 2-1 edge heading into the third.

In the final period Galivan tied the game early at 4:34 to put him at the top spot in goal scoring for the Gladiators at four with help by Clackson. Haddad scored his unassisted goal at 12:07, taking a turnover from behind the net and burying it past Nagle to put Gwinnett up for good.

Third Star, goalie Jeff Jakaitis had 27 saves for the game, including a brilliant glove save late in regulation on a point blank setup by the Blades. Jakaitis ranks third in the league in goals-against average at 1.76.
