Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - After an impressive rookie tournament and training camp, the Colorado Avalanche have reassigned 2005-born defenseman Saige Weinstein to the Spokane Chiefs this week.
The six-foot-1 blueliner was an invite to Colorado's rookie tournament, where he scored a game-winning goal against the Vegas Golden Knights on September 18. From there, he was invited to the club's main training camp where he was one of 60 players, including 18 defensemen, on the ice.
Weinstein finished last year, his second full season with the Chiefs, with 18 points on four goals and 14 assists - all new career highs. The Edmonton native was originally Spokane's first-round pick (18th overall) in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft and was named the team's Rookie of the Year in 2021-22.
Weinstein is expected to be available for this Saturday's Blue Moon Opening Night and Pre-Game Party against the Tri-City Americans, set for a 6:05 p.m. puck drop.
