Collins, Clarke's Clutch Hits Extend Shuckers' Win Streak to Seven

BILOXI, MS - In the 10th inning, Isaac Collins' RBI single and Wes Clarke's two-run home run to right paved the way, and Cam Robinson twirled a perfect bottom half to give the Biloxi Shuckers (52-45, 18-10) a 9-6 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (57-39, 16-12) at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Tuesday night. The win extended Biloxi's win streak to seven, their longest of 2023.

Griffin Conine started the scoring for Pensacola in the second with a leadoff home run to left off Shuckers' starter Christian Mejias. After Cody Morissette tripled to right, Dalvy Rosario brought him home with a groundball to short. Morissette came home ahead of the throw, giving Pensacola a 2-0 lead.

The Shuckers fought back against Blue Wahoos' starter Eury Pérez in the third. After Pérez retired the first six in order, Carlos Rodriguez lined a single to center to lead off the third. Brent Diaz then doubled down the left field line to bring him in, and Lamar Sparks doubled to almost the same spot, tying the game at two. Jackson Chourio then singled to left, scoring Sparks and giving Biloxi a 3-2 lead. Jacob Berry singled to left in the bottom of the inning, scoring José Devers from third.

The Blue Wahoos grabbed the lead again in the fourth with an RBI single from Victor Mesa Jr., knocking Mejias out of the game. Conine then launched his second home run of the night off the top of the batters' eye, giving Pensacola a 6-3 lead. The Shuckers, however, battled back again in the sixth. After Dylan Bice recorded the first two outs via strikeout, Freddy Zamora, Calros Rodriguez and Brent Diaz combined for three straight RBI hits, including an RBI double from Diaz to tie the game.

From there, both bullpens kept the game tied. Luis Amaya set a new season-high with the Shuckers after 2.1 innings out of the bullpen. Zach Vennaro and Cam Robinson then worked two scoreless innings to send the game to extras.

In the 10th, leadoff hitter Isaac Collins lined a single to right, scoring Chourio, and Wes Clarke launched a two-run shot to right, giving Biloxi a 9-6 lead. Robinson worked a perfect bottom of the inning, stranding the placed runner at third. Robinson (3-1) earned the win for Biloxi while closer Jefry Yan (2-2) took the loss for Pensacola.
