HARRISBURG, Pa. - Ke'Bryan Hayes homered in the first inning and Austin Coley threw five scoreless innings to lead the Altoona Curve to a 1-0, rain-shortened win over the Harrisburg Senators at FNB Field on Wednesday night.

The Curve (57-48) held the Senators (55-52) to 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 runners on base before rain halted play prior to the eighth inning.

Hayes brought in the game's only run with his first-inning solo homer off of Wirkin Estevez (Loss, 1-4).

Coley (Win, 2-0) held Harrisburg to five hits and issued one walk with two strikeouts over his five scoreless innings.

The Senators loaded the bases against reliever Bret Helton in the sixth, but he worked out of the inning. Geoff Hartlieb (Save, 7) worked a scoreless seventh before the game went into a rain delay and was eventually called.

The win padded the Curve's lead over Harrisburg to three games for the Western Division wild card lead. The Curve also trimmed Akron's division lead to six games.

The Curve and Senators conclude the series on Thursday night. Right-hander Scooter Hightower (0-1, 6.59) will start for Altoona, opposed by Harrisburg right-hander Tyler Mapes (1-2, 4.18). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at FNB Field in Harrisburg.
