Cloutier recalled

Houston, TX – The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros have recalled goalie Frederic Cloutier from the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators, the teams announced Thursday. Cloutier went 0-1-0 with a 5.13 goals against average during a January stint with the Aeros.

Cloutier, 22, (5/14/81) sports a 14-5-2 record, a 2.49 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 22 games for the IceGators. He started last month's ECHL All-Star Game, his second such appearance in his three-year career. The 6-foot, 180-pound native of Ste. Honore, Quebec, was 4-3-2 with a 2.46 goals against average in 12 appearances last season for Houston before a wrist injury ended his campaign. Cloutier was the 2001-02 ECHL Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year.

The Aeros play host to Utah tonight at 7 p.m. during an Aeros Happy Hour, before embarking on a season-long five-game road trip Friday in Milwaukee. The swing continues Saturday and Wednesday at Chicago, and then finishes Friday, Feb. 13 in Milwaukee and Saturday, Feb. 14 in Grand Rapids. Houston just started a stretch of 20 straight games against the West Division, and tomorrow will begin a string of nine straight against the top three teams in the division – Grand Rapids, Chicago and Milwaukee.
