JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Justin Crawford had four hits including the go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning as the BlueClaws topped Aberdeen 4-2 on Wednesday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

With the win, the BlueClaws pulled to within a half-game of first place Brooklyn who was rained out in Greenville.

The BlueClaws took the lead in the fourth on a SAC fly from Kendall Simmons. Jersey Shore starter Christian McGowan went four scoreless innings for the second straight start. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Aberdeen tied the game in the fifth off Konnor Ash on an RBI double by Carter Young. Ash, however, then escaped further damage when the IronBirds had runners on second and third with nobody out and a run already in. He got a flyout to right and struck out the next two hitters to keep it a 1-1 game.

The BlueClaws took the lead in the fifth on an RBI double from Justin Crawford. Cole Moore added a SAC fly in the sixth for a 3-1 lead. Erick Brito walked with the bases loaded in the seventh for a 4-1 lead.

Andrew Walling struck out the side in the sixth inning and Jack Dallas followed with two scoreless innings. Rodolfo Sanchez gave up a home run in the ninth to Tim Susnara to cut the lead to 4-2, but got the last three outs for his second save.

Crawford had four of the seven BlueClaws hits in the win, Jersey Shore's second straight to start the series with the IronBirds.

The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Mitch Neunborn starts for the BlueClaws.
