CHARLESTON, SC - Jose Pirela had a 7th inning RBI single to cap a two-run inning for Charleston as they came back to beat Lakewood 3-2 on Saturday night.

Pirela's hit, which came off Ryan Bergh (3-5), followed Ray Kruml, who had an RBI triple to tie the game. Chuck Nolte (3-2) threw a shutout 7th and picked up the win, whole Jeff Williams had a 1-2-3 9th for his second save of the season.

The RiverDogs (21-26) have taken the first two games of the four-game series, and Lakewood (23-23) falls to 2-2 on their road trip.

Charleston led 1-0 after four, thanks to a 4th inning RBI single by Melky Mesa, but the BlueClaws answered with two runs in the 5th. Travis Mattair scored on an error by the second baseman Corban Joseph and Harold Garcia gave the BlueClaws the lead with an RBI single.

Trevor May lasted five for Lakewood, allowing one run on two hits. Jacob Diekman threw a shutout 6th before Bergh gave up the two runs in the 7th inning to take the loss.

The BlueClaws left seven on base and have left 16 on in the first two games of the series while having scored just three runs.

The teams will continue play the third of their four- game series on Sunday night at 5:05. LHP Matthew Way (1-1, 0.64) throws for Lakewood against RHP Brandon Braboy (3-5, 4.24) for Charleston.
