Claver, Freeland Assigned to Stampede

BOISE, Idaho, December 14, 2012 - The Idaho Stampede have been assigned Victor Claver and Joel Freeland from the Portland Trail Blazers, the team's hybrid single-affiliate, Trail Blazers General Manager Neil Olshey announced today. The two are expected to play this weekend in Boise as the Stampede take on the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The assignments are the 49th and 50th of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while the pair is among 34 NBA players to have been assigned to the NBA D-League this season.

Claver (6-9, 224, Spain, b. 8/30/88) was originally selected 22nd overall by the Blazers in the 2009 NBA Draft before joining the Blazers for the first time this season. So far, Claver has played in six games and is averaging .8 points and 1.5 rebound in 10.2 minutes per game. In two games with Idaho last weekend, Claver averaged 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Claver signed with Portland on July 11, 2012.

Freeland (6-10, 225, England, b. 2/7/87) was selected 30th overall in the 2006 NBA Draft before playing professionally in Spain. Freeland then signed a three-year deal with the Blazers on July 13, 2012. The English national also played for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. So far, Freeland is averaging 2.2 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game in 10.2 minutes, having appeared in 12 games for Portland.
