Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg City Islanders split a pair of road games over the weekend, falling 2-0 to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday night and blasting the Cincinnati Kings 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. The City Islanders enter the week with a 5-5-3 record (18 points), in sole possession of fourth place in the USL Second Division standings.
Harrisburg's offense struggled against the 'Hounds on Friday, and goals from David Flavius and Jason Kutney proved plenty enough for a Pittsburgh win. The City Islanders fell to 0-1-2 against Pittsburgh this year.
But the City Islanders were simply brilliant on Sunday against the Kings, getting goals from five different players in their highest-scoring performance since last July 30. Jim Stevens, the 6'7" rookie out of Lehigh making his first start, scored in just the second minute, and Adam Clay, Justin Sadler, David McClellan, and Jamel Mitchell followed with strikes of their own. Cincinnati's lone goal came in the 45th minute, when Clay inadvertently played the ball into his own net.
MCCLELLAN, SADLER NAMED TO TEAM OF THE WEEK: Two City Islanders rookies - forward David McClellan and defender Justin Sadler - were named to the USL-2 Team of the Week for Week 11, the league announced on Monday.
McClellan earns his third weekly nod (including a Player of the Week award on June 5) after recording a goal and an assist in just 23 minutes of action on Sunday against the Kings. After replacing fellow rookie Stevens in the 67th minute, the reigning Division III Player of the Year out of Messiah scored in the 75th and set up Jamel Mitchell for the final goal of the day just a minute later. McClellan ranks second on the team with 4 goals and 9 points.
Sadler is on his second Team of the Week this season. Not only did he play solid defense at the left back position in both games, the former Cumberland Valley High School star also converted a penalty kick against the Kings for his first pro goal. Sadler has now started seven of Harrisburg's last eight games.

The City Islanders return home this Saturday, July 8, to host the league-leading Richmond Kickers (9-2-2, 29 points). Game time at Skyline Sports Complex will be 7:05 p.m.
The Kickers - finalists in the USL First Division a year ago - took the first meeting between these two teams in Richmond on May 14 by a 5-2 score. Five different players scored for the Kickers in the game, while Harrisburg got goals from Jamel Mitchell and Matt Tanzini. Richmond is coming off a 3-0 loss in Wilmington on July 1, a defeat that snapped the team's 11-game unbeaten streak. This will be the final meeting of the season between the clubs.
The City Islanders will host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, July 15 (7:05 p.m.) before embarking on a three-game road trip to end the month.
